The Calhoun-Liberty Abstract Company has been serving Calhoun and Liberty counties since 1916. Family owned
and operated for the past 90 years.

In 1916, Thomas C. Ray and J. Flake Durham purchased the company from J. A. Ormond of Marianne. Thomas C. Ray continued to run the company training his daughter, Ruth Ray Howell along the way. Ruth Ray Howell took over after her father's death in 1935 and continued to run the company until 1996 when she retired and turned over the family corporation to her grandson, Ray Howell. Ray began working there in 1987 and has continued the family tradition that started over 90 years ago. In 2004, they expanded their services to Gulf County, opening Gulf County Land and Abstract Company, in Port St. Joe, Florida.
